Website update: Image Details
On the AstroWorldCreations website, each deep sky image has its own page filled with details. This includes information about the object, imaging conditions, equipment used, and a step-by-step description of the processing. The layout of these pages has changed several times over the years, often adding more information but shifting focus away from the image itself. I have now updated the layout to make the image the main focus again.
The main changes are as follows:
The image is now part of a slideshow, which includes the supporting images (crops, annotations, sky plots, etc) (1)
Information about the image has moved from several lists to the top the image (name, resolution (2), constellation, location (3), etc)
The categories have moved to the top of the page, allowing users to make selections based on object types or catalogue (4)
The chapters ‘Conditions’ and ‘Imaging’ have been combined into one chapter ‘Data Acquisition’ (1)
Location information has been added to the visibility plot (2)
Information tables on Sessions and Frames have been simplified (3 and 4)
The chapter ‘Equipment’ has been shortened
The chapter ‘Processing’ stayed the same, but will focus on special aspects, leaving the process workflow as the main source of information on the various processing steps.
The Sessions and Frames tables have changed from an image format to an html format. Overall this should improve the readability, but it can mean that at some screen resolutions you may have to scroll left-right a bit to see all the content. The new html format is the result of some changes in software use ‘behind the screen’. It does allow for a bit more flexibility in how the data is presented.
The first image that has seen this makeover is Caldwell 39, published in its original format on 07 April 2025, and re-published in the new format today, while keeping the original publication date. All newly published images will adopt this new format.
More updates to the website will come in due course. But the imaging section had for me the highest priority.
Hopefully the changes will give you a better experience on this website. Looking forward to hear any feedback and suggestions, so feel free to comment below or send me an email at wjd@astroworldcreations.com.
